3b - Develop resources for learning activities in accordance with the lesson
plan.
Your
lesson plan to include at least 1 activity sheet with instructions on the
following:
Alignment of Learning Outcomes with Course and
Program
I am using the constructive alignment approach
to curriculum design, to develop learning activities that are aligned with
intended learning outcomes. That is, select activities that will elicit actions
related to the learning outcomes. Learning activities should give students
opportunities to develop and ultimately demonstrate their learning. Choose or
design activities that allow students to progress through a range of levels of
complexity as they work towards achieving deeper understanding in a particular
area.
I am applying Bloom Taxonomy
principle such as identify, recognise,
apply, integrate, analyse and reflect to align facilitation goal with learning outcomes.
Program
mapping
Once l have mapped the course,
then I will proceed to map the desired skills, knowledge and/or attributes
across the entire program.

Resources : Video Case Study & Discussion
Discussion
Theme : Differentiate the interior works – the good and inferior works of
hotels
• Brief participants on
ground rules so that there are mutual respect and co-operation to learning
during the class activities
• Inform the learning outcome for this
activity - Differentiate the
interior works – the good and inferior works of hotels
• Select participants – participants’ profile
and characteristic are identified. Participants to work in two
groups for a group discussion.
• Facilitator will ask the
participants to watch the video play before the group discussion. This will
give the participants a virtual experience of site briefing by the architects
explaining and showing some of the designs, quality and standard of interior
design works of hotel.
For group discussion, each group to discuss:
-
What is good design
works(from the video)
-
What is inferior design
works(from personal experience)
• Explain
that each group to write down
discussion outcomes on flipcharts and share with the rest of the group
![]()
• Ask participants what
interesting things they learned in this group discussion.
• Elicit
their expectations for the training, and record their answers on a flip
chart. Review of session agenda and objectives
• Discuss and Evaluate
-
Briefly
review the discussion based on the sharing as a whole group.
-
Find
out from the participants; “what did you learn from this?”; “what conclusions
did you reach?”
-
I will share feedback on the discussion,
what I see, and do well during the activity.
-
Debrief
and share some of the examples to differentiate the interior works; e.g.
carpet for luxury hotel is 100% wool material whereas it is nylon material
carpet for 3 star hotel
-
also highlight some key points in the video
which shows the interiors of luxury hotels in Shanghai. The design and architecture speaks of expensive,
refined, luxuries and elegant with local culture theme.
-
Hotel designs are both form and function that
produces simplicity in design works. Form is an art and function is science
which gives guests a spatial luxury to
experience unique accommodation delivering comfort and functionality and
ensuring highly personalized experiences. The furnishing such as wallpaper,
fabric and carpet are of high quality workmanship and material. Furniture are
of great design, expensive wood and usually imported items.
-
Therefore for the contractor
tendering luxury hotels, key attribute to good tendering is the ability to
understand hotel designs and have an eye for details.

Resources : Video Case Study & Role Play
Role Play Theme : Apply
best strategy to winning tender for a luxury hotel
• Brief participants on
ground rules so that there are mutual respect and co-operation to learning
during the class activities
• Inform the learning
outcome for this activity - Apply the
secret to winning tenders for interior works of Luxury Hotel
• Select participants – participants’ profile
and characteristic are identified and the facilitator assigns the roles. Participants to work in two groups for a role play. Each
group comprises:
Client, Designer &
Consultant ( 1 to 2 participants)
Contractor ( 1 to 2
participants)
i.
•
Prepare the observer – to evaluate the realism
of the role playing, respond to the effectiveness and sequences of the role
players’ behavior, and define the feeling and ways of thinking of the persons
being portrayed.
• I will use a Role Play
checklist to identify gaps ( I have omitted
this step due to time factor)
![]()
• Participants are asked to engage in
a Role
Play called Tender Interview between clients and contractor
• Brief : The contractor had
submitted a tender for Renovation of a 5 Star Hotel Guestroom for 500 rooms
and was invited for a tender interview.

• Facilitator will throw
hints on some key points to winning tender on the PowerPoint slides such as
innovation, compliance, understanding the scope, delivery on time, budget,
quality, highest value for money, experience and portfolio, best practices
and standards and offer the least risk. (refer to slide below)

• Facilitator will then ask
the participants to watch the video play. This will give the contractors a
virtual experience of a hotel site visit briefing by the architect explaining
some of the scope, quality and standard of interior design works expected of
the hotel.
• Facilitator
to instruct participants (clients) to interview the contractors using the
given questions. They should write down the key points of their partner’s
responses, as each group from the clients’ side will need to do a review later.

• When
particpants (client) have finished interviewing the contractor, ask the
client from each group to review answers with the whole group. Ask
participants what interesting things they learned in this interviews.
• Elicit
their expectations for the training, and record their answers on a flip
chart. Review of session agenda and objectives
• Discuss and Evaluate
-
Briefly
review the scenarios and decisions based on the scenarios, as a whole group.
-
Find
out from the participants; “what did you learn from this?”; “what conclusions
did you reach?”; “how can you apply this to your work?” etc. These were asked
and checked in Gagne 6 during the fun quiz and Gagne 9 during transfer
-
I will share feedback on role play, what I
see, and do well during the activity.
-
I
will share some of the secret to winning tender on the PowerPoint slides as
shown below
![]()
• Share Experiences and Generalize – The problem
situation is related to current problems and the real experience.
-
